Quick Key Rebind - Thoughts?

Posted by MakeGamesHappen - July 15th, 2014

I am thinking of a "quick key rebinding" menu.
Here is how it would work:

You go to the menu and then it says:
"Press the key you want for Jump"

Once you press any key, it says:
"Press the key you want for move right"

You press a key, the menu continues.
ect. Thoughts.

That could work, although, sometimes it's annoying to mess something up and then have to go through the whole process again. Maybe consider an options screen where they just put their own shit in? Also, while I'm here: This game is frustrating. I've only played a few minutes but I feel like there should be something I'm working towards to make the frustration worth it. Like a prize or some points or level ups. Also, I noticed a bug where it looked like the home screen was laid over some other previous screen until I clicked. And another thing, it messes with my OCD when I don't get to blow up all the bombs on the screen. It would be better if all the remaining bombs blew up when I entered the green gate... Y'know, to signify my victory and stuff.

I like that idea. And it would be very easy to implement.
And if that's all it takes to cure your OCD, I am down for that.
I am putting it on my official TODO list.

PS: You should throw some tits on Alice.

If I wanted to use tits to sell I'd just make porn.
Maybe you should subscribe to my friend's web cam.
Provided you are at least 18 years of age, in a state where that sort of stuff
is legal. Etc.

I don't' know about that idea, I mean you are already using the most frequently used movement buttons ever, the WSAD and the arrow keys. Maybe it's a good idea for if you are going to drop bombs or any other stuff that would make the game interesting.

Yeah, it seems pretty well covered. Though I wonder if there would be any typical reason people who use their own controllers would need remapping.

I just downloaded GlovePIE (Not sure if that spelling is correct)
And got an external PS3 controller to work with our game.

I got it to work on all my computers...

I couldn't get the Steel Series Free controller to work on anything.
The controller is either crap, I am very unlucky, or I am not as good with technology as I thought.

I like games when you can remap your keys. If anything because I have an AZERTY keyboard, and I have to change the language of my keyboard for games that use QWERTY. It's not much, but it's a bit annoying (and it also means other keys will change place which can be problematic for games with commands beside movement). I will always have a personnal liking to games that bother to at least have an AZERTY option.

Is AZERTY a German keyboard?
I remember my German roomate had Y and Z swapped on his keyboard or something like that.

I will keep re-mapping in mind then!

French/Belgian keyboard.

Hm, thought it was a little more widespread. I guess I can't be surprised few games consider it. Still, key remapping is a good option to have.

After reading I see I should support:
QWERTY
QWERTZ
AZERTY

Americans tend to use WASD to move.
Do you know of any standard keys the gamers with AZERTY
keyboards use?
